well... to continue what i seemed to have started last year in LA, i will again give you a pictoral view of my memorial day weekend. :D saturday morning took a ride with deniz, sean, bill, and randy out to highland valley, to julian, to borrego springs, and back. it was the best ride i've been on in a looooong time! they had these humpty-humps out in the desert - straight away, but up and down humps - and if you gassed it just right at the top of the humps you'd wheelie down it. (:

me and sean, note my breakfast in hand, heh
pics of the bikes had a decent sunday... slept in late (about 11ish), watched some tv and just bummed around. met up with chia and victor for some grub on good 'ol convoy - was good times catching up. hit up the gym with caleb... he's feeling much better, which i'm glad of, so we can go to the gym together more often. shot some hoops afterwards too. he helped me with my fade-away shot from the baseline, you know... that shot KG always takes. he even hinted that he'd be my personal trainer, but i had to do all the stuff he wrote down for me. haha! afterwards he came over and i cooked him a good meal of catfish, rice, chicken/apple sausages, soup, and salad. too bad i didn't take a picture of it all... it was gooood. only bad thing bout sunday was i missed church. :\
chia visiting from oak-town
tajima... japanese style pancakes
chia and i trying to show off tummies we don't have today had lunch with carlos, his boy joseph, and greg. joseph is three years old and a bundle of energy. carlos says he eats and talks non-stop from 7 to about 9 o'clock at night. hahahaha - so awesome. we had a good time with him at ruby's diner in mission valley.

wow! i just learned this today... did you know that molerique... i mean, enrique iglesias had his famous mole removed?! dangit, can't call him molerique anymore. what is he good for now? >:-( xxx Friday, May 28, 2004 i don't know why these past couple of days have been so hard for me. i guess now that i've gotten the stress of finding a job out of the way... other things of "importance", to me, are resurfacing. God spoke to me especially about what i'm feeling this past sunday. pastor miles spoke on abraham, and how God asked him to sacrifice his one and only son isaac. the things pastor miles hit on were that, abraham's faith: 1. prompted immediate obedience. 2. was willing to surrender something he loved. 3. proclaimed God's plan of salvation. 4. was whole-hearted obedience. my faith is nowhere close to abraham's... i've surrendered something i love... but i'm still waiting for Him to provide that ram, caught in the thicket... xxx Wednesday, May 26, 2004 some pics from monday at streets of willow:

tires mid-day xxx pics from a couple of weekends ago at broken yoke. caleb tried to do the broken yolk special... but FAILED. miserably, i might add. as stated on their menu, "for the iron man or woman". the broken yolk special consists of: a dozen-egg omelette filled with mushrooms, onions, american cheese, and smothered with our own chili and more cheese. on the other half of a 15-inch pizza pan is a generous pile of homefries and two of our biscuits. DISCLAIMER: eat it all for only $1.98! the $1.98 is for one person only and there is a one-hour time limit. winners will go down in history on our wall of fame plaque. GO FOR IT! talk about pride man. its all pride baby. yep... caleb lost a lot of it that one fateful saturday afternoon. ahahahahaha

spectators hubert and eric xxx praises! you know how some people say curses? well i say praises!! yesterday was my first day at my new job, and in that one day, God showed me how faithful He has been throughout this past year and a half of work. He pretty much placed me at lincoln mutual... let me tell you how He put the puzzle pieces together. i had met bill (my new boss) this last december, while i was still working for DMS communications, on a roadtrip down here to san diego. i dropped in on his office and helped update some of his phone bills. but he was a different kind of business owner... passionate, questioning, just wanting to know more about, me. so after i finished all the paperwork that needed to be done to update his phones... we actually sat and talked for about 30-45 minutes. i left with both of us having a very good impression of each other. fast forward to two friday's ago. joon (one of my ex-coworkers) drops in on bill's new office. bill immediately asks about me, and why i'm not there to update his service. he soon finds out that i am no longer working there, and actually looking for work. he tells joon to tell me to give him a call. i proceed to do just that later that afternoon. "hi bill, its joshua." "hey josh! i hear you're looking for a job!" so he pretty much offers me the job on the spot, but asks me to come in the next monday to check the position out, see if it would be something i would want to do. i go in the following monday and accept the job. fast forward to yesterday. first day on the job, obviously i wanted to get a few things cleared away. first of which was the work schedule... its a little bit different here... 10-7 or 11-8. i told bill i had a prior committment, a Bible study, every tuesday nights and i would have to leave a little early. he said no problem, and i actually found out he's a christian himself and goes to skyline church. not only is my boss a christian... all the skills needed for doing the job was just a transfer of the skill-sets that i had learned at my previous job. you know how when you start a new job on the first day... normally you're kind of nervous, not know what's going on, a little scared? well i didn't have any of those feelings! :) bill even pulled me aside at the end of the day and told me that eversince he had met me, he had earmarked me for management. he tells me this on my first day! can you believe that? God is truly amazing... and i see His faithfulness and hand in everything that has happened to me work-wise this past year. i am joyful and trust Him with my life more and more so everyday. :D i also went to a trackday this past monday. it was goot fun! but the guys i went with were freakin' fast... and i was always trying to play catch up... so anytime off the track, they were always talking about how they were dicing it up, and i really had nothing to say. so that was kind of the sucky part. but i'll post up some pics soon! xxx Friday, May 21, 2004 oh! another thing to add quickly before the "day ends"... :D you know how i got that parking ticket and got my car towed last night? well... today while at work (pizza, yay last day!), my old boss bobby (his office is in the same complex), told me that he had a check for me. turns out i got paid out on some of the rejected accounts i signed up! it just about covers the tow and parking ticket! God provides... xxx i was sitting in the drive thru line at in-n-out... watching families devour their delicious burgers... and a thought occurred to me. i finally realized why i want to have a family so much: you get to be with all the people you love the most, and who love you back the most. yes, in the real world, this isn't always the case - meaning kids grow up resenting their parents, etc. yada yada... but i have a good feeling my family, the family i call my own, will be spectacular. i was too hunger to wait... so i ended up backing out of the drive thru line and getting subway. haha! :D much healthier tho, dontcha think? (: xxx a day in the life of joshua. got up... went to work... made some good money... parked at rimac... worked out for about 4 hours (lifting/bball)... found a ticket on my car ($40 mang!)... went to caleb's... went to get some burritos at chipotle... watched hilarious wild boys vids... watched scary movie 3... came out, car got towed (gonna cost $180). *shrug* its all good, even though its money i dont' have. but something tells me its all going to be ok. i still have parents that love me. a body that's healthy. a job that i'm starting on tuesday. a trackday on monday that's going to be freakin' awesome. and on top of all that... jesus loves me this i know. xxx Monday, May 17, 2004 looks like joshwah got himself a job... xxx Friday, May 14, 2004 i saw the most beautiful house EVAR today. yes, say that word with me... EVAR. say it just how it looks. man... what a spectacular word, what a spectacular house! i was delivering there, and it was an open house. it isn't one of those houses that is overly extravagant, all flowery and fluff. its an older house... not exactly victorian style, but just big... lots and lots of windows... 2 stories and an attic i believe. it was abundant in wood flooring and accents. simply a house i'd love to decorate and raise kids in. too bad i don't have $1.9 million to blow. one day maybe... :D xxx Saturday, May 08, 2004 man... what an awesome day. woke up late... then hooked up with sean and nicole and roamed the streets of pb. pacific beach block party baby! its almost like a flea market, or a uh... what do you call it... those things on ucsd library walk where there's kettle corn, posters, shoes, paintings, food, etc. it was quite fun! finally got rid of my farmer tan i believe. :D lots of "scenery" if you know what i mean... but all that just doesn't do it for me... need the whole package mang. (: if i dream it, she will come. haha. we're all gonna have dinner later tonight with stroble as well. ooo... this is my favorite song lately... alicia keyes - if i ain't got you. download it. xxx Tuesday, May 04, 2004 a lots been going on lately. lemme summarize it as quickly as possible: started delivering pizza - pretty easy, dunno if i'll make enough money tho; female roommate moved out cuz she couldn't pay the bills, stuck us with the lease; got my bike up and running again, went on a couple of rides, feels good; leg is a lot better due to physical therapy, already played some IM's with tim hwang's team; going to the gym consistently, looking good feeling good; parents came in to LA yesterday, picked them up, had lunch at hurry curry, was really weird cuz i was so close to many things familiar; hung out with cousins yesterday, gonna go dirt biking with ryan next next weekend; church has been good, still learning the hard way when it comes to trusting God with a job, girlfriend/wife, future - but learning slowly but surely; went to broken yolk on sat. to watch caleb eat this huge thing called the broken yolk special... he gave a pretty weak showing, lost my digital camera in the process *sigh*; just got back from lunch with jonathan and caleb, hit up this brazillian bbq place... yum; now its time to hit the beach! xxx |
